You should vote for a republican because the other side is wedded to Marxism. Period. Wait four years and the rot might be too far gone to do anything about it. Current democrats have proven their wish to get power by any means, from motor voter laws -- for which people have registered using foreign passports -- to fighting against id to vote, to disputing any election they don't win.
Vote for a republican and you vote for a chance at a libertarian in the future. They might be "some degrees better than democrats" but those are significant degrees. To quote Robert A. Heinlein: "If you are part of a society that votes, then do so. There may be no candidates and no measures you want to vote for ... but there are certain to be ones you want to vote against. In case of doubt, vote against. By this rule you will rarely go wrong." And if watching the debate yesterday you didn't wonder about the "must have" universal health care, the "need" to raise taxes and the very bizarre "green collar workers" (which possibly could be solved by regular application of fungicide?) then you, I'm sorry, are no libertarian. Don't vote for a republican. Vote against a democrat. And hope for a better future.
I disagree with Portia.
Voting for Republicans = supporting Republicans. They are not better than the Democrats. Your choice is minimal. Both parties are big government. Rather than voting against something, vote FOR something. Vote for Constitutionalists and Libertarians. The Republicans are pushing a huge pro-war police state. The Democrats are pushing a massive welfare state. And they both overlap on a zillion issues. Voting for the "lesser" of two evils is still evil. Until people start investing their votes outside of the two-party hydra, we're doomed. Though... we're probably doomed already. My Libertarian thoughts for you. |
